IKKF Winter Training

WOW !!! What can I say, MKTC Hosted the IKKF Winter Training on Feb 16 & 17. But what was scheduled as a 2 day event turned into a 6 day event when The Heilman's and Dan Rupert flew in on Wednesday and did not leave until the following Tuesday. The extra attention given to the MKTC students and the extra classes taught every day by Hanshi Heilman and Dan Rupert were UNBELIEVABLE.

Regional Championships Results

January Promotions

A Teen Beginners Program Graduation was held January 31. Four individuals graduated and earned  their Yellow Striped Belts and will now start participating in more advanced programs:

Mandeville Karate's monthly belt test was held on January 31st. 15 hard working students participated and after over two hours of testing were promoted to new ranks.

To 1st Degree Brown Belt: Ashleigh Bridges .

To 3rd Degree Brown Belt: Dominick Paternostro, Dominic Neill, L.J. Aurelio.

To Blue Belt: Joey Medina, Aaron Hunter, Andrew Binder.

Black Belt Test

A regional black belt test was held on January 20 in Mandeville under the supervision of 9th degree Black Belt, Dr David Jordan. 7 total candidates were invited, 5 from MKTC. The 3 1/2 hour test included everything these students have learned over the course of their training as well as a 1 mile timed run.

Seminars with Dr Jordan, 9th degree

MKTC hosted Seminars featuring 9th degree Black Belt, Dr David Jordan on Friday and Sunday, January 18 and 20th. Participants were traveled from as far as Colorado to attend his annual winter event. Dr Jordan's next Seminar will be May 17 in Ruston, LA.

Black Belt Test Approaching

With MKTC hosting a state wide Black Belt Test and Seminars featuring 9th degree Black Belt, Dr David Jordan next weekend, a few of the local candidates received some extra attention from Sensei Dupaquier on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, January 11-13.

MKTC's candidates will include: Travis Bush for 4th degree, Jeffery Pohlmann, Leo Labourdette and Pete Copping for 2nd degree, Eric Pohlmann for 1st degree.

January Dojo Completion

Extreme Kuk Mu Forms: Students competed with their own version of a kuk mu form and were judged on technique, power, and originality.

Tournament Form: In preparation for next weeks Karate Tournament, students were judged exactly like they will on January 19.

Sparring: Three points win the match or most points in two minutes.

Looks and Presentation: Students received up to 5 additional points for having a properly tied gi and belt.

Flying Kicks: Competitors were given the choice of attempting several flying kicks over 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, or 7 foam shields and were awarded 1 point for each shield cleared, 0 points if the stack was knocked over.

December Promotions

An additional monthly belt test was held December 26th. 4 individuals were taken through the required techniques, drills and forms and were then promoted

 to new ranks by members of the MKTC staff.

The regular monthly belt test was held December 13th. 11 individuals were taken through the paces of blocks, kicks, and punches by the MKTC staff. When all was said and done, all 11 were promoted to new ranks.
